2019 Cat’N Around Catskill – Cat #26
Sponsored by: Mid Hudson Cable
Description: Silver tabby cat, adorned with three dimensional headdress and collar, brimming with flowers and birds.
About the Artist: Largely influenced by her rural upbringing in upstate New York, Sara Pruiksma continues to be inspired by her immediate surroundings. Pruiksma lives along the Hudson River, in a late 1800’s Italianate style fixer-upper, with her husband and beloved pets. As a gardener, and wildlife enthusiast, her time spent outdoors undeniably influences her work through the study of color, form and movement.
Sara is a mixed media artist, primarily working with water-based media, most often gouache or acrylics, and sculpting with epoxy resin. She has previously worked in oils and with textiles, creating what she called “soft sculptures”.
Pruiksma received her MFA from the State University of New York in 2011 and graduated with her BFA from Alfred University School of Art and Design, Magna Cum Laude, after receiving her Associates degree from Columbia-Greene Community College.
