AUTISTI-CAT by Alice Anasa – Art Teacher
2018 Cat’N Around Catskill – Cat #36
Sponsored by: Town of Catskill
Description: I am a “special education” Art teacher and my students have inspired me. I want to spread “Autism Awareness” and let people know how talented my students are. I will give my students puzzle shaped paper pieces to decorate with the autism colors and decoupage them on the body.
About the Artist: I am a graduate of Art & Design H.S. and Fashion Institute of Technology. I was an artist from the moment I could grasp a pencil. I spent all my childhood summers growing up in the Catskill Mountains (Tannersville.) I began my career as a Fashion and Textile designer. Unfulfilled, I went back to graduate school @ Adelphi University to become an “Art Teacher” – I am teaching art to “Special Needs” student in the NYC public school system for the past 11 years. My students have exhibited their art work @ “the National Art League” in Douglaston NY. My student and I wanted to create and design a cat to bring awareness to Autism. Together we designed our “Autisti-Cat.” The rest is History…
